By your side- tenth avenue north

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

And I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Look at these hands and my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world's sin
So I could carry you in
And give you life
I want to give you life

Cause I, I love you
I want you to know
That I, I love you
I'll never let you go

Under the Overpass

Category: Books
Genre: Other
Author: Mike Yankoski
After meals from garbage cans and dumpsters, night after night Mike and Sam found their beds under bridges and on the streets. They were forced to depend on the generosity and kindness of strangers as they panhandled to sustain their existence. For more than five months, the pair experienced firsthand the extreme pains of hunger, the constant uncertainty and danger of living on the streets, exhaustion, depression, and social rejection—and all of this by their own choice. This is their story. Through Mike’s firsthand account, Under the Overpass provides important insight into the truths of the street and calls the younger generation of believers to take great risks of faith to bring Christ’s love to the neediest corners of the world.

A worth reading book. Not some 5 steps on improving your life or whatever you want to call it. Mike and his companion, Sam, journeyed as homeless man for five months. Not for a project or even in response to dare. He needed to know his faith in God was real - if he could actually be the Christian he said he was apart from the comforts he'd always known.
And being a homeless is i guess really the stepping out of the comfort zone. No home, no money saved for what's about to come, hungry, no enough clothes. But it reminds me the scripture which Patty shared last thanksgiving Matthew 4:4 "Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Not relying on this world's comfort but on God alone. not with just material blessings we see if God really bless us when we obey Him, but the love that is shown with our brothers, neighbors that is amazingly priceless.
Their journey also inspire us, Christians, that each and everyone of us is made in God's image, whether they smell bad or they are mentally ill. We do not judge others based on their appearance, people get saved not because of plain doctrine at first, but by seeing the love in the church. But we should not compromise with sin.

1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

His commandments are not burdensome

1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

-Reminds me the time of Moses and Israelites. When God gave His commandments He told His people that He is giving those commandments for them not to fall from their enemies’ idols.
-God does not want to lose His child from His arms.
-That’s how God loved His people. He Himself made a way to keep His child. His commandments are not burdensome because it’s all for our own good

-PSALM 19: “The law of the lord is perfect.” Law of God- law, testimony, commandment, fear & judgment.
6 EVALUATIONS OF THE LAW
-perfect, sure, right, pure, clean and true
6 RESULTS OF THE LAW
-converting the soul, making wise the simple, rejoicing the heart, enlightening the eyes, enduring forever and righteous altogether.
*it provides the key to wisdom, joy, and most importantly eternal life

People always tell how hard to follow so much rules, and why don’t we just love instead of focusing in the small details. Well God have a reason for that. We don’t start sinning in the obvious way. It starts with believing the lie is not harmful. DeMoss writes in her book this:
”We listen to a lie. We get too close
We dwell on the lie. We focus on it and ponder the benefits.
We believe the lie. We begin to believe the lie is true.
We act on the lie. We sin”
God does not want us to taste sin as His child.  In able to have a healthy marriage you need to be faithful, true, submit yourself to your husband. Same with our relationship with Him.
